UX Designer (Me)

Skills / My role

I led UX research, visual direction & UI utilising Figma.

Challenge / Opportunity

Disguise Cloud’s first-run experience was a tangle of scattered license checks, patchwork onboarding, and invisible value—new users bounced before they ever saw the product’s power.

Overview

Cloud Suite was an engaging collaborative project that brought together the Disguise Cloud and CX & Design teams. By joining forces, we reached notable milestones such as refining license authorization, redesigning the onboarding process, upgrading the marketing site, developing a user-friendly dashboard, and incorporating welcome tours for newly launched products. These enhancements significantly enriched the user experience, making it more intuitive and captivating for our customers.

Approach

As a UX designer with experience in both UX research and design, I played a key role in the Cloud project. My approach involved collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver results that added value to the product and improved the user experience.

To gather insights and identify pain points, I conducted UX interviews and qualitative analysis. This allowed me to craft user flow diagrams and wireframes that effectively addressed a multitude of problems, ensuring that the end product was both functional and intuitive. Additionally, I worked closely with UI designers to enhance the visual language of our products and create a more cohesive and seamless user experience.

My contributions to the Cloud project demonstrate my ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver results that improve the user experience.

Kind words from clients & co-workers

As a single person UX team and also the first UX role in the company, James built the capability from the ground up and brought valuable UX insight to all aspects of the business, always approaching the often difficult task of championing UX amongst the developers with a bright and positive attitude. He gets involved with everything, from providing qualitative and quantitative user research for sales, marketing and product through to insightful UI design on both small improvements and building out new workflows for features with the development team.
